Vocal Class - January 7th

Why do you think that lyrics are written before the music to a song? After answering this question what do you think is more important to your audience when you are performing a song? Since you know these two things when you sing a song why is important for you to pick it instead of me?

  1. The lyrics are written before the song because they want to make sure that the music matches what is being said. You don't want to have a happy sounding song with lyrics like,"My wife just passed away, and now I live with my dog." That's just not right. I think that a normal audience can relate more with the lyrics, but to musical people, the music itself is what counts the most. We should pick it and not you because we need songs that touch us, or that we think we can perform. We need lyrics that can fit us and move us.

  2. lyrics are written first because they are the most important part of the song. the lyrics matter to the audience because they want their choice in music to match their tastes and feelings. if we pick our songs instead of you, we are picking them because they speak to us, and we can relate to them.
